SENTRONG PANGKULTURA NG PILIPINAS
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) was created in 1966 as a public trust for the preservation, promotion, enhancement and development of Philippine culture. In 1972, it was transformed into a non-municipal public corporation. The CCP has sought to embody the values of katotohanan (truth), kagandahan (beauty) and kabutihan (goodness). It emphasizes the Filipino value of pagmamalasakit (compassion) that highlights the virtues of galing, galang and dangal (excellence, respect and integrity). The CCP Main Building (Tanghalang Pambansa) was inaugurated in 1969 and has served as the country’s principal venue for showcasing the Philippines’ diverse culture as well as cultures from other parts of the world. Since then, the CCP has continued to expand the reach of its programs to recognize artistic excellence, discover and nurture Filipino artists, enhance interest and appreciation of Philippine arts, and create greater opportunities for cultural expression.
